How do you choose the best food for your pet?
Many people buy pet food based on price and / or packaging, but what else should we look for?
Some pointers to remember:
Tinned = 75% water, 12% protein
Dry = 10% water, 28% protein
Protein: Animal V’s Vegetable (lacks certain amino acids) the more animal ingredients you find and the higher on the list the better the pet food.
Ingredients = the higher the place on the list, the more of that ingredient the food contains.
Animals eat in order to meet their energy needs i.e. low energy content your pet needs to eat more; therefore it is quite possible that a cheaper product will actually turn out to be more expensive.
