CAT AIDS - What is it?
·
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a virus which aggressively attacks the cat’s immune system, making it susceptible to a range of infections.·
Up to one in five Australian cats may be infected.·
Minor symptoms such as loss of appetite, diarrhoea, lethargy and gingivitis may soon turn nasty, resulting in many vet visits, even death.·
Spread – primarily through fight wounds.·
Predominantly affects male cats over 2 years and outdoor cats.·
FIV is not contagious to humans.·
FIV may now be prevented with a new vaccine, if blood tests are negative.·
Sadly there is no treatment or cure for a FIV infected cat.·
Blood tests are available during consult, giving you immediate peace of mind.
