· 80% of dogs over 6 years old have prostatic hypertrophy, or an enlarged prostate

· In some cases this may lead to recurrent infections or even cancer.

· Even simple enlargement will cause difficulty in passing urine or faeces, and can make your dog very uncomfortable.

· Desexing your male dog will prevent these problems later in life and is actually curative even once the prostate gland is causing problems, except of course if cancer has already developed.
