RAT BAIT POISONING!

Unfortunately Autumn and Spring can bring an increase of rats and mice and with it an increased use of “rodenticides” or baits / poisons.

Rodenticide poisoning in small doses such as bait’s is a slow progressive poisoning.

Symptoms may be some or all of the following:

· Lethargy or marked decrease in activity

· Decreased appetite

· Pale gums

· Slight cough

· Blood stained urine

· Blood stained discharge from mouth or back end

· Difficulty breathing

· Collapse or sudden death

If you know of any rat baits on your property please ensure they are stored and placed well out of reach of your animals.

If you suspect your animal has ingested rat bait please seek Veterinary assistance immediately.
