Meet Our Team


Dr Ruth

Veterinarian & Practice Owner (BVSc (hons), MVS, MANZCVS (Feline Medicine), ISFM AdvCertFB)

Graduating from The University of Queensland in 1992 with first class honours, Ruth worked in small animal practice in South East Queensland until moving to Ballarat in 1998. She joined the Eastwood Vet Clinic team shortly after and took over ownership of the practice in 2002.

Ruth completed her Masters in Veterinary Studies in 2001 and was admitted via examinations as a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Feline Medicine in July 2013. More recently she has completed the ISFM Advanced Certificate in Feline Behaviour for Veterinary Professionals in April 2020.

Dr Megan

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Megan joined our team at Eastwood in 2011 after spending 11 years working in mixed practice in the west of Ireland. She has a special interest in surgery, and orthopaedics in particular.

Dr Cath

Veterinarian (BSc (Hons) BVSc(Hons))

Originally from Ballarat, Cath graduated from Sydney University in 2004, and then headed straight to the UK. She worked in mixed and small animal practice for 7 years, then moved back to Melbourne to work in emergency practice, and have a couple of kids with vet husband Tom. She moved back to Ballarat in 2017. When not at work, she is busy wrangling small children and lovable black labrador.

Dr Isabella

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Isabella graduated in 2001 from the University of Veterinary Science in Vienna, Austria.  She then completed the Australian Vet Board Exam in 2003 and worked in rural mixed practice until joining the team at Eastwood Vets in 2011.

Isabella has a special interest in small animal medicine, emergency and critical care.

She spends her free time with her ‘furkids’ – two cross breed rescue dogs and a very laid back rescued Domestic house tiger.

Dr Sam

Veterinarian (DVM)

Dr Sam completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at University of Melbourne in 2020.

Sam & her husband Des have just recently moved to Ballarat and they are enjoying the lifestyle change that Ballarat and surrounding districts have to offer.

Dr Sam has a special interest in small animal medicine and preventative health.

Dr Tanji

Veterinarian (DVM)

Tanji graduated from Melbourne University DVM in 2014. She spent her first few years working as a solo vet in rural NSW before moving to Ballarat to be closer to family. She enjoys exotic animal medicine and internal medicine.

In her spare time, you will find Tanji horse riding or in the kitchen baking delicious treats.


Registered Veterinary Nurse & Practice Manager (Senior Surgical Nurse)

Nikki has worked in the industry for many years and is the mother of four children and many four legged "kids"! She studied at Box Hill and worked around Melbourne, Daylesford and now Eastwood Vets since 2007. Nikki has furthered her education in Emergency/Critical Care, Radiology and Advanced Rehabilitation Physiotherapy and has recently become the Practice Manager of Eastwood Vets as well as her role of Senior Head Surgical nurse. Her interests are wildlife rehabilitation, riding her horse 'Mako' as a proud member of the Creswick Light Horse Troop, eating fresh produce out of her garden and good wine!

Veterinary Nurse

Sam joined the team in 2013 and during this time she has worked many roles at the clinic. For the past 6 years Sam has been working as a vet nurse and has a special interest in reproductive emergency care.

She comes with many years experience in the showing and breeding of dogs, with a particular fondness for the giant breeds. Her chickens, goats and three dogs keep her busy in her spare time.


Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV)

Mandy joined the team at Eastwood Vets in 2020 after completing her certificate IV in Vet Nursing. She has extensive experience in horse racing which was her full time career until she decided to follow her childhood dream to become a vet nurse. Mandy is keen to further her studies in orthopaedics, physio and rehabilitation.

Mandy has two teenage boys and the whole family enjoys the outdoors with their horses, chickens, dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rainbow lorikeet.


Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV)

Aimee completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at Gordon Institute and joined Eastwood Vets in late 2020.

She has a special interest in animal physio and emergency and critical care, and is looking to furthering her experience in this field in the near future.

Aimee enjoys spending time with her family and helping on the family farm. In spring, she enjoys working her two hives as she thinks honeybees are amazing creatures.


Animal Care Taker


Reception Manager

Lisa has worked in reception and administration for over 25 years and has been part of the Eastwood team since 2010. She has a Border Collie called ‘Jess’ and a Sun Conure bird called ‘Sunny’.



Steph has been part of the Eastwood Vets reception team since 2017 and is one of the friendly faces that greet you at reception.

Her house is quite the menagerie and has many occupants ranging from children, grandchildren, horses, cats and dogs!

Steph has a soft spot for Saint Bernards and during her spare time when not at the Clinic she runs a Saint Bernard rescue and rehoming organisation.



Rachael started working as a receptionist for Eastwood Vets in May 2021. Rachael is currently completing her Certificate III in Animal Studies at the Gordon in Geelong (2022) and hopes to complete her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing the following year.

When Rachael is not at work or studying you will find her hanging out with her fur babies Jasper, Sunny and Tilly or away camping and skiing with her family and friends.

Mr Brian Tubbington (AKA Tubby)

Client Relations

Mr Tubbington started at Eastwood Vets as a work experience volunteer during Christmas of 2019. His charm and charisma saw that he was quickly promoted to Clinic Counsellor then onto the top position of Clinic Head of Client Relations. He enjoys interacting with all 4 or 2 legged clients and staff.
